+200 in Math
“If you’re not 100% committed and you don’t put in as much work, you probably won’t get the results that you want. But for students who decide to put in the work and do all their homework, in the end, they will see the results that they really wanna see.”

My name is Diego Cuellar. I’m in 11th grade, and I go to Riviera Preparatory School. When I began my Junior year, I knew that the SAT was coming up soon and that I had to prepare. Knowing that I had a goal to meet for the school that I wanted to get, I realized that I needed tutoring. I had a little bit of tutoring through my school in an SAT class, but it just wasn’t the best. There were a lot of kids, only once a day, and for only 45 minutes long. I wasn’t getting much done. So when I realized I had to get a different tutor, I looked to peers to explore the different options that I had. My sister told me that she had a great tutor during the time that she was studying for the SAT, so that’s how I came to a Peace of Pi. She had done some prep before with another tutor, but at least for the math, it wasn’t giving her what she needed.
When I started studying for the SAT, I had always thought I was better at math than reading. I’m in Pre-Cal right now; before, I was in Algebra 2. I had taken a PSAT and scored around 510. I was a pretty good math student, but I still needed a little bit of a jump to get good math students score. POP helped me reach that status.
When I first enrolled, I had my doubts about the virtual group learning environment. I thought that there’d be times where I would just slack off and I wouldn’t have to pay attention because it was virtual, and maybe I’d get distracted and stuff, but that’s not true. Throughout the class, the tutors were always keeping our attention, and we had to type our answers in the chat. So there wasn’t really a time where I wasn’t paying attention, and that made it easy for me to keep being focused instead of doing something else during the class.
If I were to give another student advice, I’d tell another student that POP is rigorous, and there’s plenty of homework. But to be honest, the more work that you put in, the more results you will see. If you’re not 100% committed and you don’t put in as much work, you probably won’t get the results that you want. But for students who decide to put in the work and do all their homework, in the end, they will see the results that they really wanna see.
On the first SAT that I took, I ended up getting a 710. And then, on the second one, which was in December, I believe I got a 720. So, my overall improvement was 210 points from the PSAT! Now I’m officially locked in at the 93rd/94th percentile. Eventually, I do want to get a perfect score. I’m working towards that. I haven’t applied to any colleges yet or anything because I’m still in 11th grade, but I’m sure that it’s gonna help me out a lot in the future.
