Hey! My name is Julia Freire, and I’m a senior at MAST. I took the Peace of Pi Learning SAT prep course for the November 2022 and August 2023 SAT exams. I needed more practice and content review because I lacked confidence and scored poorly on PSATs compared to my target. Seeing peers succeed on the SAT without prep made me stressed that I’d end up submitting low scores on college applications.
A friend who previously took the course said it involved a lot of work but was efficient and delivered results. I had tried other prep programs that didn’t help much, so I was willing to work hard with Peace of Pi to really improve. The daily assigned work was the best thing I could have done. It prevented me from forgetting what we learned in class and helped clarify concepts I was initially fuzzy. Having deadlines for each assignment also helped me stay organized and on track.
Initially, I expected that contributing to Zoom would make me uncomfortable and distractible. But the highly interactive class format got me engaged in speaking up, asking questions, and staying focused. I was also intimidated by group learning at first. However, seeing most others make mistakes, too, reassured me. The small groups also helped me become more comfortable.
I increased my math score by over 200 points, far exceeding my expectations! This reduced my senior year stress and boosted my confidence when applying to Florida schools requiring SAT scores. Thank you, Peace of Pi, for all your help – I couldn’t have done it without you!
