I’m Clarisa Ponte, a senior at La Salle, and I turned to Peace of Pi for SAT Math tutoring after experiencing minimal score improvement with another tutoring service. My initial score of 630 left me feeling disappointed, considering math has always been my stronger subject, and I had expected better results.
My biggest struggle was in mastering the test format and managing time effectively. I had completed Pre Calc Honors and always excelled in math throughout my academic career, so I felt frustrated by my inability to achieve my desired score… until I found Peace of Pi, of course!
I was initially skeptical about virtual group learning, given my past experience doing online classes. However, the interactive and collaborative environment fostered by Peace of Pi proved to be really effective. Small group sessions facilitated active participation, while the personalized attention from instructors like Vicky made for a supportive learning atmosphere.
What distinguished Peace of Pi from previous tutoring experiences was the emphasis on practice and homework. Unlike other programs where we skimmed over a few problems, Peace of Pi’s approach involved extensive practice, helping us master each and every skill. The workload was demanding, with approximately ten assignments per week, but I managed it by dedicating time each day to complete them, and it all paid off!
The result was a significant score improvement of 140 points, adding up to a final score of 770! This achievement not only exceeded my expectations but also opened doors to academic opportunities that once seemed so far out of reach. With my new and improved SAT Math score, I now confidently pursue my dream of studying engineering, with top choices including Georgia Tech and UF.
Reflecting on my journey with Peace of Pi, I am immensely grateful for the transformative impact it has had.
