Hi, I’m Sofia Varela, a senior at MAST Academy. Before joining Peace of Pi Learning, my SAT scores weren’t where I wanted them to be. I realized that my initial math scores of around 460 to 500 wouldn’t cut it for the colleges I was aiming for, like UF, where the average score was at least 1300. Math was never my strongest suit, especially because I had gaps in my understanding of fundamental concepts, making it a particular challenge.

When I heard about Peace of Pi Learning from friends who were seeing results, I decided to give it a try. Despite initial hesitations about virtual learning, I found the interactive group environment to be incredibly supportive and tailored to my needs. Unlike my experiences with pandemic-era online classes, Peace of Pi Learning provided personalized attention and constant engagement, which made a significant difference in my learning journey.

The four-hour classes, especially after school, were tough, but I managed by staying organized and following the recommended study schedule diligently. Despite occasional frustrations with the workload, I found the program immensely helpful. The personalized assignments targeted my weaknesses and helped me relearn forgotten concepts, ultimately leading to a significant improvement in my math skills.

Taking the program twice—once during the school year and once in the summer—proved to be beneficial. While juggling school classes and program sessions during the year was challenging, dedicating my summer solely to SAT prep allowed me to focus entirely on the test, resulting in better outcomes.

Ultimately, my efforts paid off, and I achieved a final math score of 700, a remarkable improvement from where I started. This accomplishment not only boosted my confidence but also opened doors to opportunities like Bright Futures for Florida and increased my competitiveness in college admissions.

Reflecting on my experience, I appreciate the relentless support and guidance from the Peace of Pi Learning team. Their dedication to my success, combined with my determination, resulted in a transformative journey that I’m immensely grateful for. Overall, my journey with Peace of Pi Learning has been challenging yet rewarding.
