Before I joined Peace of Pi, I was feeling a bit lost when it came to preparing for the SAT math section. I’m generally good at math, but I was struggling with creating a study schedule and sticking to it on my own. I knew the colleges I wanted to apply to had high score ranges, so I needed a little extra help to keep me focused and get the results I needed.

When I started the Peace of Pi program, I was nervous about the virtual group learning environment. I wasn’t sure if it would be too similar to the big, impersonal virtual classes we had during COVID, but it ended up being much better than I expected. The small group sizes, usually about six to eight students, meant that we got personalized attention. It was great to have people from all over Florida in my group, and I found the accessibility of virtual tutoring perfect since I live in the Florida Keys.

One of the biggest challenges for me before the course was managing my time during practice tests. I would often get stuck on questions and run out of time. But with Peace of Pi, I got a better understanding of how the SAT works, especially the tricky wording of the math questions. Going through the homework and practice tests helped me get faster and more confident.

The 10-week program was intense. When they say you’ll get 2-3 hours of homework, they mean it! But the tutors were always there to help and made sure I kept up with the workload. They really broke down the material in a way that was easy to follow and retain.

By the end of the program, I saw a huge improvement. My SAT math score increased by 120 points, and I couldn’t believe it. It was such a relief to see all the hard work pay off. Now, I feel much more confident heading into the college application process, knowing I’m a stronger candidate with the scores to prove it!
