+90 points on the SAT Math!
“We were constantly practicing, and by the time I took the test again, I felt calm and confident. I wasn’t second-guessing myself, I had done the work, and it showed.”
When I joined Peace of Pi, I had already taken the SAT twice with a different tutoring program but wasn’t making the progress I hoped for. I was getting stuck, especially in math, and things just weren’t clicking. A close friend of mine had just completed Peace of Pi and strongly recommended it to me, so I decided to give it a try. Looking back, I’m really glad I did.
The biggest difference for me was the intensity and structure. My old tutoring was once a week, and it just wasn’t enough. With Peace of Pi, everything was packed into a focused two-month period. It was intense, but that repetition helped everything stick. We were constantly practicing, and by the time I took the test again, I felt calm and confident. I wasn’t second-guessing myself, I had done the work, and it showed.
I started the course with a 630 in math, and by the end, I scored a 720. That 90-point improvement made a huge difference. Not only did it boost my overall SAT score, it helped me qualify for Bright Futures and gave me a huge sense of relief going into senior year. Now, I can shift my focus to the rest of the college application process without that pressure hanging over me.
What helped me most were the homework assignments and the videos. At the start, they really focused on the basics, and once I had that foundation, everything else became easier. Toward the end, the amount of practice tests they gave us helped me build endurance for test day, especially since math is the last section of the SAT. Practicing under timed conditions helped me stay sharp all the way through.
The virtual group setting worked better than I expected. It was motivating to hear other students ask questions I hadn’t even thought of, and it created a space where we were all learning from each other. My tutor, Chloe, was amazing, super supportive, and always checked in when I needed help. I actually liked that the tutors are close in age. Chloe had gone through the Peace of Pi program herself, so she knew exactly what we were experiencing and shared a lot of helpful advice.
My advice to other students is to start early. If you can do the summer course between sophomore and junior year, do it. If not, just be prepared to manage your time really well. It’s a serious commitment, but if you stay disciplined and put in the effort, it’s absolutely worth it.
