+110 points on the SAT Math!
“For the first time, I was finishing sections with time left to review my answers”
By the time I decided to join Peace of Pi, I realized that I was putting in a lot of time studying on my own without seeing meaningful results. I was practicing problems, but when I got questions wrong, I didn’t truly understand why. I knew I needed external help…specifically, someone who could explain my mistakes clearly and help me avoid repeating them.
Before Peace of Pi, I relied entirely on self-studying. That approach wasn’t working because I lacked structured feedback. I could identify that an answer was wrong, but I couldn’t learn from it. Since I’m applying to competitive universities, I felt it was important to strengthen every part of my application. Even with many schools becoming test-optional, I believe a strong SAT score can only help.
My biggest frustration before tutoring was time management. I spent far too long on difficult problems and often ran out of time on exams. After completing the course, that completely changed. For the first time, I was finishing sections with time left to review my answers: something that had never happened before. This alone boosted my confidence significantly.
Going into the program, my main concern was the workload. I was already balancing a heavy academic schedule, and at first it felt overwhelming. However, after the first couple of weeks, everything started to flow more smoothly. I learned how to pace myself, understood what I needed to complete each day, and eventually became accustomed to the structure.
I was not concerned about the four-hour classes because I understood that improvement requires time and effort. While there were moments where I had to sacrifice time with friends or family, once I was in class and actively solving problems, time passed quickly. The small group virtual format also exceeded my expectations. I appreciated that the groups were small, which allowed the tutor to give individual attention and made the experience feel personal rather than overwhelming.
My tutor, Zoe, was a standout part of the experience. She made the sessions engaging and took the time to connect with us as students. Learning from someone who had recently gone through the same academic journey made the advice more relatable and practical.
What I found most helpful about Peace of Pi was the revision process. After quizzes, being able to review mistakes through detailed explanations and videos made a huge difference. The combination of structured homework and live Zoom sessions was especially effective. Practicing concepts independently and then reinforcing them during class helped everything stick.
The results reflected the effort. I improved from a 1300 SAT score with a 640 in math to a 1370 overall with a 750 in math. I am extremely proud of my math improvement, and that progress gave me confidence during college applications, particularly as I apply to my dream school, Babson College.
Although the program is demanding, it is effective. I believe Peace of Pi is worth the investment because education is about the value it provides, not just the cost. I would recommend the program to motivated students who are genuinely committed to improving their scores. For those students, the results speak for themselves.
My advice to other students preparing for the SAT is to stay consistent, eliminate distractions while studying, and pay close attention to the explanation videos. That’s where the real learning happens, and it makes all the difference.
