Success Stories

“You need to know that you’re going to have to put in a lot of effort. Just by signing up and going to classes you are not going to get the increase in your score that you want to see.”
“The tutors we’re great. They all had amazing personalities. The course really pushed me to reach my goal of 800.
“There’s nothing out there like it, I would say. When I was looking for tutors, at first, I tried maybe one or two other people, like, just individual tutors, and there’s nothing like you guys.”

Frequently asked questions

Will the prep help for the digital SAT?

Yes. The problems covered in the math section are identical on both the digital and paper-based tests. The main difference will be the format, some of the wording, and the fact that the students can leverage a calculator for the entire test. We had already began making the necessary adjustments to ensure that our  prep courses account for them before the format changed, and we will continue to make updates as we learn more.

How much can I improve?

A lot. The average improvement that our students get on the SAT math after one round of tutoring is 100-150 points. But we’ve also had students go up by over 200 points and even some that went up over 300 points in the math alone.  Don't take our word for it though; you can check out some of our student success stories by clicking here and here. If you prefer written over video, click here.

Is ten weeks enough for me to get the score I need?

The answer to this depends on the student's goals. What we have found is that if the student is able to commit 1 hour per day of studying outside of class, they tend to improve by 100 points on average during our ten week program. To improve more than 100 points, more studying is usually required. We’ve actually had many students decide to take the course a second time after making an initial 100 point jump so that they could ultimately improve closer to 200 points.

Can virtual group tutoring be as effective as in-person?

Contrary to popular belief, In-person tutoring actually leads to more distractions/less focused work as the proximity between students allows for increased interaction between them (physics baby), and we all know that students USUALLY aren’t talking about the most efficient way to solve a math problem. Virtual learning eliminates most of that side chatter but still allows students to learn from each other's mistakes and questions. This allows the class to move at a faster pace, which makes the class less boring and allows us to cover more material/questions than if the tutoring were in-person.

Don't take our word for it, though; you can check out what some of our students had to say about how the virtual group tutoring environment was better and helped them crush their goals by clicking here.

How many students are in each class?

Each class is split up into groups of 3-8 students each week based on their level of proficiency. The average will be about five students per group.

How interactive/engaging are the group classes?

This is a common question we get, with many parents and students worried about the engagement level in a 4-hour, virtual, group tutoring environment, especially with the experience we all had with the pandemic.

They have a hard time believing their child will be able to sit through 4 hours of anything.  And if they were in our classes just passively taking notes, that would be a valid concern.

But rest assured that we conduct our virtual group classes in a unique manner that is very different from what was experienced during “virtual school” during the pandemic. The combination of small groups (average of 5 students) and the Zoom meeting technology allows us to engage the students in a way that makes it more focused and personalized than in-person group tutoring.

Don't take our word for it, though; you can check out what some of our students had to say about the 4-hour classes by clicking here, and what they had to say about the virtual group tutoring environment by clicking here.

Will I be able to have all my questions and doubts answered during class?

Yes, our teachers not only make sure to go over every question in class, but they also have students send in their responses for every practice question privately.

This way, without the student even having to ask, the tutor is aware of any confusion the student may have based on the answer they submit. This allows the tutor to address the issue by having the student walk them through step-by-step what they did, 1-to-1.

If the student still has any unanswered questions or doubts, or if they have a question that comes to mind after class is over, they can either reach out in their private group chats, stay after class, or attend office hours to get that issue resolved.

Do you have any breaks? How many breaks do you have?

Each class has either two short breaks or one longer break. The breaks range between 7 and 15 minutes.

What happens if you know you’re going to miss a class? Can you make it up?

If a student misses a class, they can either make up the class by attending one of the other sessions that week, or they can receive a recording of the class. All the classes are pre-recorded, so we can even plan ahead if they know they will be absent.

Will homework be assigned?

Yes. A lot. Success is directly correlated to how many problems a student does to build their “math muscle.” But don’t worry, it’s not pointless busy work. We actually assign homework tailored to the student’s strengths and weaknesses, and how they perform in class each week.

How many hours of homework is required?

This will vary by student, but in order to improve about 100-150 points on math within a ten week period, which is our class average, it generally requires about 6 to 9 hours of studying per week (60 to 90 minutes per day), outside of class.

Will we be provided the resources such as physical book copies with questions?

Yes, all of the resources are provided to you via our paperless, online platform on google classroom.

Will I be able to contact anyone for help whenever I need it?

Yes, you will have your own private Whats App chat with our team, where you can reach out whenever you have questions.

Who are the teachers?

Our teachers are former Peace of students who excelled in our prep course, increasing their math score by 100+ points and ultimately getting into their dream schools (UF, Rice, George Washington, NYU, etc). They are young, energetic, and uniquely relatable. They also all have hundreds of hours of tutoring experience and a strong understanding of how our program works, making them the most qualified instructors for our program.

What if I don’t like my tutor?

It’s actually pretty rare that a student doesn’t get along with their tutor because our instructors are former successful students that are young, relatable, and have hundreds of hours of tutoring experience.

In fact, it’s our experience that whenever we have a mismatch between tutor and student, the issue usually has less to do with the student not getting along or not understanding the tutor, and more to do with the group either being too advanced or too low for that student. Whenever that happens we actually tend to make the adjustment within the same class to make sure the student is placed in the correct group level for their needs.

Do you only offer SAT math prep?

Math is our specialty, but we also offer SAT reading prep. You can find more information here: https://peaceofpilearning.com/product-category/sat-reading-prep-courses/

We recommend students only take one course at a time as studying for both math and reading at the same time can be A LOT. Instead, we recommend that students focus on one subject at a time and super score their SAT score (taking their best math score and combining it with their best reading score).

Is there a combined math and reading prep course?

No there isn’t. It is possible to do both at the same time, we just don’t recommend it. The workload would be way too heavy. Instead, we recommend that students focus on one subject at a time and “super score” their SAT score by taking their best math score and combining it with their best reading score.

Can we do both math and reading prep courses at the same time?

Sure, but we don’t recommend that. The workload will be A LOT. Instead, we recommend that students focus on one subject at a time and super score their SAT score (taking their best math score and combining it with their best reading score).

Do you prepare students for ACT?

No, our program only prepares students for the SAT.
