“The tutors were amazing, especially with breaking down things I didn’t understand.”
I decided to join Peace of Pi because my SAT math score wasn’t where I needed it to be to qualify for Bright Futures. I had already tried other test prep courses, but they didn’t really work for me. School math was fine, but SAT math and I just didn’t get along.
One big challenge was adapting to the new digital format and the timing. Since the SAT went adaptive, I would do well in the first section, but then I’d get stuck in the second part and not be able to finish. That was super frustrating. Coming into the virtual group learning environment, I was a little nervous—I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to focus for four hours on a computer. But it actually turned out great! Everyone in the group was on the same level, and it was fun to challenge each other to see who could get it first or get a streak of correct answers. The tutors were amazing, especially with breaking down things I didn’t understand.
I’d tell other students that the program is challenging and it’s a lot of work, but the outcome is absolutely worth it. All the hard work you put in over those three months makes a big difference. My math score went from a 590 to a 750—that’s an 180-point improvement! It helped me reach my ultimate goal of qualifying for 100% Bright Futures, and it also gives me more confidence when applying to colleges, knowing they’ll see a strong score. My advice? Take it seriously. It’s long and tiring, but it’s so worth it in the end.
