My name is Esteban Chiquito, and I’m a junior at Riviera. I decided to join Peace of Pi after hearing about it from a friend’s brother who had successfully completed the program. I was eager to tackle the SAT before it went online, as I heard all about how it would be more challenging. Math wasn’t my strongest subject, so I knew I’d need some guidance. I struggled especially in geometry, where I felt I lacked a solid foundation.
Before I started tutoring with Peace of Pi, I took a PSAT and scored a 1290. Although I aimed to improve my score, I knew that math wasn’t my forte. I trusted myself more with the reading portion, so I focused on perfecting my math skills with Peace of Pi.
The virtual group learning environment at Peace of Pi met my expectations and more. Their method is truly innovative, and is something I’ve never seen before. The tutors were incredibly engaging, making the sessions interactive, which helped me focus on the material.
I found the small group setting beneficial because it allowed for more personal interaction with the tutors and other students. The tutors felt more like real, friendly people rather than traditional teachers, which made learning a lot more enjoyable.
The program provided a lot of helpful resources, such as practice tests, worksheets, and video explanations. The worksheets were particularly beneficial as they were short and focused, allowing me to understand concepts quickly without feeling overwhelmed. The tutors also personalized the sessions, making the learning experience more effective and tailored to my needs.
Thanks to Peace of Pi, my math score improved from 590 to 730, a 140-point increase! This improvement has given me the confidence to focus on other areas of my studies and has opened up opportunities for scholarships, including the potential to earn a full Bright Futures scholarship.
