+50 points on the SAT Math!
“After taking the course, I now recognize every type of problem I see. It’s been huge for me! I’m no longer intimidated by any kind of SAT Math question.”
My SAT Prep journey actually began with another tutor. The problem with them was that we would reach harder problems and they would say, “I don’t think you’re going to be able to learn this.” That was really frustrating because I knew I needed to learn everything, even the difficult stuff, to do well on the SAT. Disappointed with the service I was getting elsewhere, I decided to give Peace of Pi a try. Their course seemed more thorough, teaching everything from easy to hard problems, and I wanted to make sure I had a solid foundation.
I’ve always been good at math, and I’m taking AP Math this year, but before the course, my score was 690, which was a bit of a surprise to me. I wanted to do better, especially since I’m hoping to apply to more competitive schools. After taking the course, I now recognize every type of problem I see. It’s been huge for me! I’m no longer intimidated by any kind of SAT Math question.
One of my biggest concerns going into the prep course was the workload. I was worried it would take up too much time and affect my schoolwork. I ended up staying up late some nights and skipping a few practices for my sport, but it was all worth it. It taught me how to balance my time and stay focused.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from the virtual group learning, but it was nothing like Zoom school during COVID. The teachers made sure we were all engaged. You couldn’t just zone out; if you didn’t answer a question, they’d make sure to get your attention and make sure you stayed on track. I really appreciated that.
The 4-hour classes seemed intimidating at first, but I got used to them. It actually helped build my mental stamina, which I know will be crucial for test day. The math part wasn’t too draining, but I think I could have focused a bit more on the reading part. That’s an area where I know I can still improve.
Chloe, my main tutor, was great. I really liked her teaching style, and I didn’t have any concerns about the tutors being college students. In fact, I think their process is probably similar to mine, and it helped me see that they were really qualified to teach.
The Peace of Pi prep course is a big time commitment, but if you’re serious about improving your score, it’s absolutely worth it. I saw a 50-point improvement in my math score, and I’m really proud of that. My final score was 740, which is in the 700s—exactly what I was aiming for. The result has opened up a lot more opportunities for me, and I’m motivated to keep improving, especially in the reading section.
Was the investment worth it? Definitely. My advice to other students preparing for the SAT: work at it every day. If you stop practicing, you lose the progress you’ve made. Consistency is key to mastering the material.
