Hi! My name is Rebecca Vela, and as a driven 11th grader at Doral Academy Charter High School, I’ve always set big academic goals for myself. However, I was discouraged when my sophomore year PSAT math score of 560 didn’t align with my math knowledge. I knew getting into programs at schools like Johns Hopkins or Princeton would require next-level SAT results.

Virtual learning during the pandemic already challenged my discipline and concentration. So, I’ll admit I wasn’t excited about virtual SAT prep. However, the engaging 4.5-hour sessions run by Peace of Pi Tutoring shattered my doubts. The intimate small group setting promoted personalized attention and boosted my confidence. I tackled the practice tests that sharpened my critical thinking abilities. Unlike chaotic virtual school, the tutoring was seamlessly structured with instructors who were very engaging.

The rigorous studying delivered life-changing results. My SAT  math score increased from 560 to 780! The tutoring illustrated how practice improved both math skills and critical thinking. To succeed on the SAT, I had to take preparation seriously. For those considering intensive tutoring, I advise embracing the workload fully to reap the rewards. Personally, I found taking the test in the summer before 11th grade beneficial, removing stress during the school year.
