+140 points on the SAT Math

“It’s not just classes; there’s a whole system behind the scenes making personalized homework plans and keeping you accountable. All I had to do was follow the plan, and my score went up.”

I first took the SAT in March and scored a 660 in math. Since math had always been one of my stronger subjects, I knew I could do better. That’s when I decided to join Peace of Pi. I wanted to maximize my score and get the result I knew I was capable of.

Before Peace of Pi, I had worked with another tutor. It helped a little, but we weren’t doing nearly enough practice questions, and I felt like I wasn’t really prepared for the test. My biggest struggles were timing and the way the SAT phrases its questions. I’d often run out of time at the end or get tripped up on wording.

At first, my biggest worry about Peace of Pi was whether I’d be able to keep up with all the work. It’s a lot, and I didn’t want to fall behind. But once I got into the routine, I learned how to spread it out during the week, and that made it manageable. The key was not letting myself get behind, because once you do, it’s hard to catch up.

The virtual group classes turned out to be great. Because of COVID school, I was already used to learning online, and this felt completely different from that. With only a few students in each group, it felt almost like one-on-one tutoring. I still got all the personal help I needed, and having tutors close to my age actually made the whole experience better. They were relatable, approachable, and explained things in ways that really made sense.

The part that helped me the most was definitely the homework. The sheer number of practice questions made all the difference. On test day, I actually recognized some of the hardest problems from my practice, which gave me a huge confidence boost.

In the end, my score went from a 660 to an 800 in math, a 140-point improvement. That perfect score gave me Bright Futures and, more importantly, a huge sense of relief. Now I don’t have to worry about math anymore. I can focus on improving my English and know that superscoring will take care of the rest.

Peace of Pi was absolutely worth the investment. It’s not just classes; there’s a whole system behind the scenes making personalized homework plans and keeping you accountable. All I had to do was follow the plan, and my score went up.
