+110 points on the SAT Math!

“My math score jumped from 600 to 710, which puts me in the range for the universities I want and got me 100% Bright Futures.”

I realized I needed help after the March SAT because I told myself I’d study on my own, but when the test came around, I ended up not studying enough. My score wasn’t where I wanted it to be—it was a 1300, but I needed at least a 1500 for the universities I’m aiming for. I also wanted to qualify for 100% Bright Futures, which requires a 1340.

Math has always been an area where I’ve needed a little extra help. I usually get A’s and B’s, but for the SAT, it was tough because a lot of the concepts were things I learned in 8th or 9th grade and had forgotten. When I started with Peace of Pi, I realized it wasn’t that I didn’t know the material, I just needed a refresher on the older topics.

Before starting, I thought it might be like online school during the pandemic—15 to 20 kids on Zoom with one teacher, which didn’t sound that helpful. I’m pretty shy, so I don’t usually ask questions in big groups. But it wasn’t like that at all. The groups were much smaller, about three to five students with one tutor, and the tutor made sure everyone participated. I felt comfortable enough to ask more questions, especially since it was the same group every time. It was really interactive, and that made a big difference for me.

I’d say people should know it’s a lot of work and dedication, but it’s totally worth it in the end because you’ll get the score you want, and it’s going to help you in the long run. After Peace of Pi, my score improved by 140 points—I went from a 1300 to a 1440. My math score jumped from 600 to 710, which puts me in the range for the universities I want and got me 100% Bright Futures.

If you stick to your homework plan and do a little every day, not all at once, it’s definitely manageable, and the results will speak for themselves.
